Depression differs from ordinary changes in mood. Persistent low mood or loss of interest can affect relationships, daily life, study and work. Depression can affect anyone, and effective treatments exist.
Seeking assessment from a qualified professional is an appropriate step when symptoms persist or interfere with daily life. This article is awareness information, not a diagnostic questionnaire, therapy service or crisis-response pathway.
Ask a qualified professional at a health facility about assessment and available mental-health services. A trusted person can help arrange support. If thoughts of self-harm or suicide arise, seek immediate help in person and ask someone trusted to stay nearby; do not rely on chat as a crisis service. Specific Nigerian service contacts still need local verification. This information cannot diagnose depression or guarantee service availability.
