Why insecticide-treated nets matter

Treated mosquito nets are an important malaria-prevention measure. Vector control reduces contact with mosquitoes. Nets complement other prevention measures; they do not diagnose illness or replace prompt assessment when symptoms develop.
Use a suitable net consistently when sleeping where mosquito protection is needed. Hang it over the sleeping space, secure the edges and check for holes; follow product care instructions. Keep nets away from flames and avoid sleeping directly against them. Other household measures can reduce mosquito exposure. Nets help prevent bites but cannot exclude malaria when fever develops.
