Reducing excess free sugars is part of healthy eating. Consider the overall diet, including sugary drinks and prepared foods. Individual needs vary; this introduction does not provide a therapeutic diet or calorie target.
Free sugars include sugars added to foods and drinks and those in honey, syrups and fruit juice. Sugar naturally inside whole fruit is not classified the same way. Consider sweetened drinks, juice, confectionery and sugar added to tea. Checking labels and choosing safe water instead of sugary drinks can help reduce excess. This article cannot calculate an individual allowance or provide a diabetes diet.
