WHO recommends suitable complementary foods from six months alongside continued breastfeeding. Food safety and adequate nutrition matter. Individual feeding difficulties, growth concerns and special circumstances should be discussed with a qualified professional.
Offer suitable soft foods and adapt texture as feeding skills develop, with varied nutritious foods. Prepare food with clean hands and utensils, supervise eating and avoid hard pieces or other choking hazards. Notice hunger and fullness rather than forcing feeding. Ask a professional about swallowing difficulties, poor growth or special needs. This guide cannot prescribe portions or texture for an individual child.
